In September 2015 my son was diagnosed with aggressive cancer. We came to rely on the excellent services, treatments, compassion and support of the children and young people Oak centre at RMH Sutton. My son owes his life to this hospital as at 16 battled Neuroblastoma, the trauma of taking him to London would have been inconceivable, we spent 16 months in total as both inpatient and outpatient, he was neutropenic a lot of the time, public transport would of been impossible and dangerous. It makes sense to me and my family that the children’s cancer services remain at Sutton, expertise in one place, accessible, this hospital still supports us, and we have to visit regularly. Central London is not the place to access these specialist services with many cancer children requiring being driven to their treatment.
